The Reputation Strategy Finder is a free tool from Reputation House that turns four quick answers into a reputation protection strategy built for your exact situation. This guide walks you through it click by click: what to expect on each screen, how to answer so the result is accurate, and what to do with the strategy once you have it. Start to finish, it takes about three minutes, and you don't have to talk to anyone to get your plan.

You can open the Reputation Strategy Finder here and follow along.

Before You Start: What You'll Need

Nothing to prepare, and no sign-up to reach your result. Just have one thing clear in your head before you begin: the single situation that matters most to you right now. The tool lets you flag more than one later, but the first pass works best when you answer for your hottest issue rather than trying to describe everything at once. If you're deciding on behalf of someone else — a founder, an executive, a client — answer as if you were them.

One tip worth setting up first: open ChatGPT or Gemini in another tab and ask it "Who is [your name]?" or "What is [your brand]?" You'll want that answer fresh when you reach the visibility question, because the AI version of you is the part most people have never actually checked.

Step 1: Open the Tool and Press Start

Step 1 of 7

The landing screen says "Request a Tailored Strategy" and tells you it's four questions. Press Start. There's no email wall and no account to create, so you go straight into the questions. A progress bar across the top tracks how far along you are, and every screen has a Back button, so you can change an earlier answer at any point without losing your place.

Step 2: Answer "Who Is This for?"

Step 2 of 7

The first question is "First up, who is this for?" with three choices. Answer it literally. Pick A person if the reputation in question belongs to an individual — an executive, a founder, a public figure. Pick A company if it's a brand or organisation. Pick Not sure / both if the two are tangled together, which is the honest answer for most founders whose own name and whose company rise and fall together.

A company
A person
Not sure / both
This choice sets the whole direction of your result, so don't overthink it — just choose the one that's true. Founders whose own name affects the company should answer "Not sure / both."

Step 3: Answer "What Is Going on?"

Step 3 of 7

The second question — "What is going on?" — is the one that shapes your strategy the most. You'll see a list of real situations, and the instruction is to pick the one that's hottest right now if more than one applies.

There is a public scandal around my name right now
I want to keep my personal digital profile under management
My name affects the business. I want to control what people see
I want to build my personal reputation from zero
There is old negativity or an outdated story about me. I want it cleaned up
What is online about me does not match how I am positioned now
Preparing for due diligence or a background check (banks, partners, new role)
Not sure
Read the whole list before you choose. The difference between "a scandal right now" and "old negativity I want cleaned up" is the difference between a crisis plan and a repair plan — so pick the one that matches your actual urgency. If two genuinely apply, choose the more urgent and add the rest at the end.

Step 4: Answer "Where Is It Most Visible?"

Step 4 of 7

The third question — "Where is it most visible?" — lets you tick more than one box. This is where that AI answer you pulled up earlier pays off: if ChatGPT described you with an old title, a wrong fact, or a stale story, tick AI answers, because that's a surface most people forget and most providers don't even check.

Search (Google, Bing, etc.)
Social and forums
AI answers (ChatGPT, etc.)
Mass media
Nothing. We are invisible
Not sure
"Nothing, we're invisible" is a real strategic signal, not a dead end — it usually means the job is building presence rather than cleaning it. Tick all that apply.

Step 5: Answer "How Fast Do You Need This Handled?"

Step 5 of 7

The last question is "How fast do you need this handled?" — and it quietly changes everything you've answered so far. The same situation with a different deadline produces a different strategy, so this answer is worth a moment's thought.

It is actively blowing up now
Nothing urgent. It has been going on a while
Nothing yet, but something is coming
Just exploring
Not sure
"Actively blowing up now" routes you toward a crisis response. "Nothing yet, but something is coming" is the classic pre-deal or pre-due-diligence setup — the goal is getting your profile clean before anyone looks. Be honest about the clock.

Step 6: Read Your Strategy

Step 6 of 7

The tool now returns your strategy on a single screen, under a "Your Strategy" heading. You'll see a short line naming who it's for, and then your core strategy in a highlighted card, with a plain-language description of what it covers. For example, a person preparing for due diligence lands on:

Your Core Strategy Executive reputation monitoring Personal monitoring and digital-profile protection for top managers, owners and public figures. — For a person focused on preparing for due diligence.

Below the card you'll see the terms stated up front: confidential, NDA from the first contact, and pricing scoped on a consultation rather than guessed at. Press "Learn more" if you want the detail behind the recommended strategy.

Step 7: Refine It, or Hand It to the Team

Step 7 of 7

If the result fits, you're done — you have a plan you can act on. If it doesn't fit perfectly, scroll to the "Didn't find the right fit?" section. There you can leave your email and, optionally, a note describing anything the four questions didn't capture, then press "Request a Tailored Strategy." That sends your case to the team, who'll refine the recommendation with you.

93% In internal testing, the tool's recommendation matched what clients went on to choose in 93% of cases. The refinement step is how the remaining 7% get dialled in.

Optional: Run a Free Risk Check Alongside It

At the bottom of the result you'll find an invitation to run a Risk Check. It's worth doing. Where the Finder maps your situation to a strategy from four answers, a Risk Check scans your actual digital profile and shows you what's really out there across all five elements — search, mentions, AI representation, reviews, and narrative tone — in about three minutes and free of charge.

The difference The Finder tells you the plan. The Risk Check shows you the reality. Run both and you walk into any conversation already knowing your situation and your options. Run a Free Risk Check →

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Reputation Strategy Finder take?
About three minutes. It's four questions — who it's for, what's going on, where it's most visible, and how fast it needs handling — and it returns a strategy on the final screen with no waiting.
Do I need to sign up or leave my email to get a result?
No. You reach your strategy without an account or an email. You only leave contact details if you choose the "Didn't find the right fit?" option and want the team to refine the plan with you.
Can I choose more than one answer?
On the "Where is it most visible?" question, yes — you can select all that apply. The other three are single-choice. If more than one situation applies on "What is going on?", pick the hottest and add the rest in the note field at the end.
What if none of the options match my situation?
Use "Not sure" where it's offered, finish the four questions, then use the "Didn't find the right fit?" form to describe your case in your own words. The team will map it manually.
Is the Reputation Strategy Finder free?
Yes, and so is the Risk Check diagnostic it pairs with. Pricing is only worked out later, on a consultation, once the actual scope is clear.
What happens after I get my strategy?
Nothing is triggered automatically. You can read more on the recommended strategy, run a free Risk Check to ground it in reality, or leave your details for a tailored refinement. An NDA is in place from the first contact if you reach out.
Does it work for a company as well as a person?
Yes. The first question asks whether it's for a person, a company, or both, and the strategy is built accordingly. Founders whose name affects the business usually answer "both."
